Celebrations of the 77 th Independence Day of India (15 August 2023)
1. The 77th Independence Day of India was celebrated in Vientiane on the morning of 15th August, 2023 at the Embassy premises. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by H.E. Mr. Prashant Agrawal, Ambassador, followed by the Indian National Anthem. Thereafter, the Address of the President of India to the nation on the eve of the Independence Day was read out by the Ambassador. The ceremony was attended by members of Indian community in Laos as also friends of India.
2. A short cultural program was also presented during the ceremony. 3. In keeping with the Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference that encourages environment friendly conduct, the programme was eco-friendly and free of single use plastic.
4. 2023 being commemorated as International Year of Millets, guests enjoyed cuisine & delicacies made of millets.
